Q: What is stucco?
A: Stucco is an exterior cladding that is a mixture of sand, cement powder, lime, water and in most cases, pigment. It protects your home from the elements as well as acting as an insulator.
Q: Can I paint over my stucco in the future if I want a different color?
A: Yes you can, however if your stucco requires minor repairs it will need to be removed as new stucco will not properly adhere to stucco that has been painted. This process can be costly; a new coat of stucco in your desired color could be much more cost effective in the long run.
Q: How many colors can I choose from for my stucco?
A: Stucco comes in a wide variety of colors, which is why we can color match. We can also bring by color samples for you to chose from.
Q: What is 'Parging'?
A: Parging is used to finish a masonry wall. It is very similar to stucco and can be applied to new or existing walls.
Q: What is EIFS?
A: EIFS or external insulating finishing systems combines stucco cladding with a polystyrene insulating foam.
Q: What are some signs that my home might require repairs?
A: On the exterior of your home you should look for peeling, cracking, bulging or discoloration of your stucco, and on the interior you should look for discoloration or bulging of exterior walls, particularly around windows and doors. Remember your stucco is your homes first layer of defence against the elements, so having your stucco repaired at the first sign of damage could considerably lower your future restoration costs.
Q: Do you work with insurance companies and will insurance cover the cost of repairs?
A: Yes, we do work with insurance companies, however most insurance policies will only cover repairs for certain types of damage, like hail, wind or collision. Most policies do not cover water seepage that occurs over time as this is considered a maintenance issue. If you are unsure what is covered by your insurance policy you should contact your insurance broker.
